Jobs that are most resistant to AI
Jobs that are most resistant to AI
Concerns that AI will replace most human jobs are widespread. A recent poll showed that 30% of Americans are worried about losing their own jobs.
Many employers and job seekers largely expect that future roles will require learning how to work alongside AI.
While no job is completely immune to AI, careers that rely on physical agility, human judgement, and emotional intelligence have the lowest risk of full AI replacement. Skilled trade jobs are widely considered among the most AI-proof careers because they rely on these things.
Trades most protected from AI consist of hands-on, physical skilled trades that require physical agility, on-site problem-solving, interaction, and direct navigation of physical environments.
Some of the primary protected trades include electricians, pipefitters, HVAC technicians, builders, welders and machinists. These trades are protected because AI and software can’t crawl under spaces and put wires through walls, they can’t physically manipulate standardized job sites. Repair and maintenance work also requires unpredictable problem-solving skills due to uncertain work conditions and environments.
